Divorce /Civil Partnership Dissolution

You may be able to deal with the divorce or civil partnership dissolution process yourself. However, I can manage the process on your behalf, typically taking between 6 and 11 months. Please see the Fees page for further details. You should also be aware that a separate financial order is usually required to formally conclude any financial claims between parties.

Pre-Nuptials

I advise on and prepare pre‑nuptial and post‑nuptial agreements. While template or “off‑the‑shelf” agreements are available, they may not provide the level of protection required. It is important that the agreement is properly drafted, tailored to your circumstances, and complies with the relevant legal formalities to maximise its effectiveness.

Swears and Certified Copies
  • I can swear affidavits & Declarations

  • I can provide certified copies

  • I can provide independent Legal Advice on mortgage and Company guarantees

Divorce Finances

If you have reached agreement on finances, it is usually important to record this in a legally binding court order. This provides certainty, sets clear timescales for implementation, and prevents future claims. If finances have not yet been agreed, it is important to achieve a fair outcome for you and your family. An initial discussion can help clarify your position and options.

Cohabitation Finances

I advise on your legal position following the end of a cohabiting relationship, particularly in relation to property rights, occupation, and financial interests. I can also prepare cohabitation agreements or declarations of trust to record financial arrangements and clarify ownership of property and assets. These agreements can be particularly important in confirming whether a partner is intended to acquire (or not acquire) an interest in a property.

Injunctions

I advise on applications for non‑molestation and occupation orders, including making urgent applications where necessary. I can assist whether you are seeking an order or responding to an application, including representation at court. Where appropriate, it may be advisable for a respondent to explore whether matters can be resolved by agreement. However, care must be taken to avoid findings being made which could have wider implications, particularly in relation to financial or children proceedings.

Children

I advise on all aspects of arrangements for children, including ensuring appropriate and workable contact arrangements. I can assist with applications for the return of a child where they have been retained or removed by one parent, and advise on or apply for Child Arrangements Orders (including “live with” orders) and Special Guardianship Orders. My focus is on achieving arrangements that provide stability and reassurance for children following separation.

Name Change

I can prepare a Deed of Name Change for you and any children, subject to obtaining the permission of anyone with parental responsibility.
